MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WDTN) - An employee of AK Steel died from injuries suffered at the Middletown plant on April 7.
Gregory Barnes, 48, of Trenton, was hurt while prepping for some maintenance repairs. He succumbed to his injuries April 17.
"The entire organization is deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague," said James L. Wainscott, Chairman, President and CEO of AK Steel. "We extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to his family and friends at this most difficult time."
Barnes was a shift manager in the plant's steel making department at the company's Middletown Works plant.
He had 16 years of service to the company.
AK Steel is still investigating the cause of the accident.
