PUEBLA, Mexico (NBC/APTN) - A volcano in Central Mexico registered a massive eruption this week.
A plume of ash and gas from the volcano reached an altitude of 2.4 miles on Monday.
Emissions of incandescent rock fragments were also registered for a distance of up to 1.2 miles around the crater.
The volcano remains in a "Yellow Phase 2" alert. That means no evacuations are currently planned.
