SPRINGBORO, Ohio (WDTN) - One of men who holed up inside a Springboro bank after an attempted robbery is headed to prison.
Anton Alexander, 36, of Indianapolis, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the armed robbery attempt at the Fifth Third Bank on Route 741 in Springboro in April 2012.
Court documents say Alexander and Anthony Phillips, approached the bank manager as he was walking into work that morning around 8:30 am. They pushed him inside and pointed a gun at him.
Springboro police received an emergency call that the robbery was in progress. The manager was able to flee when police arrived, but the robbers locked themselves inside, refusing to come out for several hours.
They were finally taken into custody around 1:30 that afternoon.
Both men pleaded guilty. Phillips is awaiting sentencing.
