MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WDTN) - A dog caught in the middle of a break-up paid a hefty price.
The man responsible for an emaciated dog pleaded guilty in Middletown Municipal Court Monday morning to animal cruelty charges.
Police were called to 2926 Navaho Street September 26 to check up on the dog.
The officer who responded says he found the pit bull in a cage, barely able to stand up.
He spoke to the stepson of Burt Brashear who told police Brashear abandoned the dogs weeks earlier after breaking up with his mother.
The stepson, Tim Jones, says he was trying to take care of the dog by feeding it, but it was already very sick.
The dog is now being cared for by the Butler County Dog Warden.
