EATON, Ohio (WDTN) - Two people died in a crash in Preble County early Friday morning.
Charles Asher, 39, of Eaton, Ohio failed to negotiate a curve on SR 122 just before 1 a.m. and drove off of the roadway, according to investogators with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
They said Asher overcorrected, and his GMC Sierra veered across the roadway, going off the other side where he went airborne, struck a utility pole, overturned, and rolled through a fence before coming to rest on its top.
Nikkole Lynn Hapner, 30, of Camden, a passenger in the pickup, was ejected.
Both Asher and Hapner were pronounced dead at the scene by the Preble County Coroner's Office.
Troopers said neither victiim was wearing a safety belt.
The crash remains under investigation and toxicology results to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash are pending.
