DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A woman is behind bars charged with animal cruelty of her pet dog.
Roscoe is now in the care of the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
Officials tell us an investigation began after they received a tip that the lab mix was being abused at a Dayton home.
We're told Humane Society officers found evidence that Roscoe was being abused and had no choice but to remove him from the home.
"We're not out to take people's animals from them, but when we do, it's a necessity, it's necessary, and in this case, I felt it necessary to take the animal and remove it for its own safety at this point," said Sheila Marquis, Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
Crystal Neely is due in court Monday.
