DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Two robbery suspects, including a teen, were taken into custody overnight in Dayton after police say they caught them in the act.
A victim called 911 sometime before midnight and reported two people broke into the apartment at 1714 Hickorydale Drive and demanded money.
"That gave police a jump on the call, so they responded quickly," said Sgt. Moises Perez with the Dayton Police Department. "When they got there, they actually confronted the suspects trying to leave the apartment".
Police said an officer came across one of the suspects, armed with a shotgun, as he left the building. The suspect dropped the gun and was taken into custody when he saw the officer.
As more officers arrived on the scene, they spotted the other suspect climbing out of an upstairs window.
There were seven people inside the apartment, including a baby, at the time of the robbery.
Both suspects, 24 year-old Darren Thomas, and the 17-year-old are facing robbery charges.
A portion of Little York Road in Butler Township is closed to traffic until this evening.
