DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - University of Dayton police are investigating another robbery of a student near campus.
According to a crime alert sent to students, the male student reported he was walking alone near the RP-8 lot around midnight when he was approached by three suspects. One of the suspects demanded the student hand over his wallet and threatened him saying he had a weapon.
University police say the student handed over his wallet and the suspects took $75 before giving the wallet back to the victim. Police say the suspects were not interested in the contents of the victim's backpack.
The suspects fled the area in a white car that was parked on Trinity Avenue.
University police ask students to report all suspicious activity to the Department of Public Safety.
The DPS also included the following tips in their alert to students:
- Do not walk alone after dark, and avoid alleys. Walk with friends or utilize the Student Escort Service, available from 7:00 pm to 3:00 am at 937-229-2124.
- Lock doors and windows when you leave your residence or retire for the night.
- Be attentive to your surroundings. Avoid distractions such as texting.
