DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A man who police say tried to rob a UD student appeared in court Monday.
Mikeial Smedley, 19, was arraigned on robbery charges in Dayton Municipal Court.
Police say Smedley tried to steal a phone from a distracted female student walking to class last Friday morning.
Two other men who witnessed the robbery, tackled Smedley to the ground and held him until police arrived.
Smedley's bond is set at $50,000.
This year, they will help 13 families in need buy toys, clothing and other items.
