MORAINE, Ohio (WDTN) - Officers caught up to the three theft ring suspects while the trio ate at a Waffle House in West Chester.
We went along with police Wednesday as they searched two of the homes where they say the three stashed some of the stolen items.
Police took out everything from to tires to tools and even towed away a motorcycle and a truck.
A day earlier officers arrested three men they say were involved, 44-year-old Ricky Shepherd and a father and son team of 39-year-old Clinton Helman Sr. and 20-year-old Clinton Helman Jr.
Police say the three are responsible for breaking into at least ten businesses in the Miami Valley in the last month.
Officers put together a task force that tracked the three to Hamilton where they say the trio broke into a Cricket Store.
Police say the three went to great lengths to make it difficult for authorities to connect the thefts.
"They would hit the business at night and dump the safe in another city and those cities didn't piece together the crime spree," says Moraine Police Chief Craig Richardson.
In all 11 agencies were involved in the task force used to catch the three.
Police say the three are facing charges in Butler County for Breaking and Entering, Criminal Tools and Safe-cracking and will likely face more charges in Montgomery County.
Officers are still investigating but believe others could be involved.
