DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A four hour standoff came to a peaceful end Thursday evening in Dayton.
Police have one man in custody for questioning. Officers call him a person of interest.
The four hour ordeal began around 4:00 pm when a man was shot outside of a home in the 600 block of Oxford Avenue.
Two men exchanged gunfire. One of the men fled. Witnesses thought he entered the house. The other man was shot. At last check, he was listed in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital. Police say he is paralyzed.
The standoff ended when a parent of the person of interest convinced him to turn himself in to police. It turns out that he was never inside the house, but returned to the scene.
SWAT members combed the house to be sure no one was inside.
