DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Friends and family gathered Saturday afternoon to remember a man who was shot and killed near a Dayton apartment complex Monday.
Edward Powers, 28, was fatally shot near the Whitney Young Estates Apartments on May 6.
Religious leaders, law enforcement officials, and those who knew Powers gathered in the 4300 block of Germantown Pike in front of Powers' house to pray for him Saturday.
A prayer vigil was held earlier in the week for Powers in front of the Whitney Young Estates on Tuesday. However, the service was interrupted when shots were fired and a 16-year-old was grazed in the head by a bullet. The teen was taken to the hospital and was okay.
Due to that shooting, the manager of the complex curtailed any other vigils at the site of the apartment complex.
Saturday, those who organized the prayer service decided to hold the vigil at the victim's home instead of where the shooting happened.
Those who attended the vigil for Powers also prayed for the teen hit by a bullet.
Police are still looking for the suspect who killed Powers. If you have any information call Crime Stoppers at (937) 222-7867.
