VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) - The mother who deputies say lied about the disappearance of her son made her first court appearance Monday.
Jade Smith, 24, pleaded not guilty in Vandalia Municipal Court.
She told deputies someone snatched her three year old from her car Friday while she was inside a local business in Harrison Township.
Police say it turned out that she ordered the boy to hide in the bushes of his grandmother's home and not come out.
The boy was discovered six hours after she made the claim.
She is charged with child endangering.
