DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A former Wayne High School Spanish teacher has been indicted on charges of three counts of sexual battery.
Kelsey L. Hartmann, 27, was arrested Nov. 21, 2012, after she was caught having sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old male Wayne student.
Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr. said his investigation revealed that Hartmann and student had committed sex acts on three separate occasions.
"Parents have a right to expect that when attending school, their children will be safe and protected," Heck said. "Teachers have a duty to not only help educate our children, but to serve as role models. This defendant betrayed her student and is a blemish on a noble profession."
Hartmann has since resigned from her teaching position and will surrender her teaching certificate.
She is scheduled to be arraigned on May 16, 2013.
