DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - City of Dayton Fire Captain Barry Cron, who was injured Tuesday morning while responding to a traffic accident on U.S. 35, has been upgraded to 'good' condition.
He remains at Miami Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Cron was on the scene where a vehicle overturned in the median. Officials said icy conditions caused the driver to lose control. While police, firefighters and medics were on the scene, more vehicles began crashing. In all, eleven vehicles were involved.
Cron was struck while checking on the occupants in one of the wrecked vehicles.
"Another vehicle lost control and crashed into the truck Captain Cron was near," said Chief Herbert Redden, who leads Dayton's fire department. "The impact threw Captain Cron 20-30 feet."
Forget the slippery roads and inches of snow on the ground, it's the perfect time to propose marriage. At least that is how Levi Minor felt Friday night.
Snowfall reports vary across the Miami Valley as the storm continues to produce heavy snow, making it hard for drivers to see in some cases.
The National Weather Service canceled the Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory just after 9:30 pm.
Sinclair Community College is closing all campus locations for the day due to the inclement weather.
