DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Less than one day after her dramatic arrest while our cameras were rolling, Chantell Spears made her first appearance in court Thursday.
Her family took the opportunity to show their support and 2 NEWS cameras were the only ones there.
Chantell Spears faced a judge at Kettering Municipal Court, but she wasn't alone.
Her lawyer, John Paul Rion, was there and so was her daughter, Bria.
"My mom is my best friend i love her. we have our difference but she has always been there for me. she don't mean this," said Bria Spears.
"We believe that once the facts come out from the facts that she will be freed sometime soon," said Jon Paul Rion.
According to Rion, those facts prove Spears fatally stabbed Delshaun Jones only after he attacked her while she was inside her vehicle.
Moraine police see it differently and issued a warrant for her arrest following the attack.
She spent three days on the run before Wednesday's arrest.
Bond was set at $200,000.
