DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A third man who Dayton Police say was involved in an incident Tuesday that prompted an officer to open fire is now in police custody.
Eric S. Simmons was taken into custody Thursday morning after officers spotted a man matching the description of the suspect who is accused of trying to run over a Dayton Police officer, Dayton Police tell 2 NEWS.
Investigators obtained a warrant for Simmons Wednesday.
Officers from across the county flocked to Lindale Avenue Tuesday afternoon when the officer was forced to open fire during a burglary investigation.
Dayton police identified the officer who fired his weapon as Zachery Williams. He graduated from the police academy n August 2012. He was placed on a three day administrative leave which is standard protocol. He is expected back to work Monday, September 2.
