KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - Stacks of sparking wine fill the aisles of Arrow Wine and Spirits in Kettering where some shoppers struggle to make the perfect selection.
Store Manager, Mif Frank, told 2 NEWS Arrow will sell more Champagne this week than the last six months combined.
"We just build up inventory to make sure we don't run out of anything," said Frank. "We track buying trends and what people like and we prepare for that".
Frank said the average customer spends about $10 to $20 on a bottle of Champagne. Mumm's is one of the more popular brands.
"Anymore with methods of making wine and making Champagne, there are very good quality wines in all price ranges," added Frank.
Brittany Hayes already bought bubbly, but was stocking up on other spirits. Like many she plans to ring in the new year at a friend's house.
"A lot of people are trying to save money nowadays," said Hayes. "Going out, they charge a $50 to $100 cover just for drinks for a couple of hours and it's still pretty expensive".
Whether to save money or to stay safe and off the roads, it seems more people are celebrating at home.
For Arrow that means a busy day with lots of bottles leaving the store.
"Our business is up every year," said Frank. "It has been every year for the last 15 or 20 years. Every year is better than the last".
