JEFFERSON TWP., Ohio (WDTN) - Dozens gathered for a silent auction Saturday at the Farmersville Fire House to raise money for a family involved in a deadly car accident.
The auction was hosted by family and friends of the Whitemans who were involved in the crash on October 6.
Paintings, gift baskets, and autographed sports memorabilia were among some of the items being auctioned off Saturday.
Police said the Whitemans were driving on Germantown-Liberty Road back on October 6, 2012, when their car collided with a truck at the intersection of Farmersville-West Carrollton Pike and Germantown-Liberty Road.
Angel and Shane Whiteman and their three children were injured in the crash. Three-year-old Varity Whiteman died in the accident. Six-year-old Aleisia Whiteman was flown to Dayton Children's Medical Center were she remains in critical condition. The Whiteman's 10-year-old daughter was also taken to Dayton Children's and treated for serious injuries. Angel and Shane were transported to Kettering Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
All money raised at Saturday's auction will go towards the Whiteman's medical bills.
Anyone who would like to help the family can make a monetary donation to the First Bank of Germantown in the Whiteman's name.
