VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) - The Vectren Dayton Air Show went on as planned Sunday, but not without the fatal plane crash that happened Saturday fresh on spectators' minds.
The show did go on as a tribute to Jane Wicker and Charlie Schwenker, who died when their wing walk maneuver went awry and crashed, killing them both.
Charred grass remains at the air show site, but fans felt compelled to return to the show as a tribute to every flyer that puts on a show for crowds to enjoy.
"The show goes on. These guys are brave enough to put on the show, so we should be brave enough to watch them do it," said Todd Newland, air show spectator.
Show organizers say final attendance numbers will not be released until Monday at the earliest.
