DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A routine traffic stop in Dayton Friday night ended with a short foot pursuit and an officer in distress call.
Police made the stop just after 8:30 pm on Norman Avenue.
They say the passenger bailed out and started running.
Officers chased him on foot and saw the man drop a gun. That's when officers called for extra backup.
Investigators say the man was trying to convince some residents on Hudson Avenue to let him hide inside their home, even offering the children there $5.00.
They said no and the police made the arrest.
It is not known why the passenger fled.
