DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Two teenagers are being held on rape charges after police say they sexually assaulted three boys near a Dayton park Monday afternoon.
The victims, ages 6 and 8, were at Cleveland Park in the Linden Heights neighborhood when they were approached by the suspects, ages 13 and 14.
Sgt. Larry Tolpin said the teens first shot the victim's with BB guns. "Then they had the victims escort them into a wooded area within the park, where sexual assault and robbery took place," he added.
The children reported the incident Monday, but were too shaken to be interviewed by police. Detectives spoke with the children Tuesday and learned the suspects were known to be bullies in the neighborhood.
Officers and undercover detectives went door to door Tuesday night looking for the teens for questioning. The teens were arrested and held in the juvenile justice center.
On Wednesday, news of the arrests spread through the neighborhood. "Being a parent with two daughters, it's upsetting," said Donnie Thomas, who lives nearby and frequents the par. "It's makes you angry".
The teen suspects appeared in Juvenile Court Wednesday afternoon, They face charges of rape, kidnapping, gross sexual imposition and assault. If found guilty, officials said they could be added to the sex offender registry.
Homicide detectives are at the scene of a shooting at Love's gas station on Edwin C. Moses Blvd.
