MORAINE, Ohio (WDTN) - The Miami Township Police Department is talking about a double fatal crash that happened Monday night.
A police officer reported seeing two suspects committing a crime, although he doesn't say what that criminal activity was.
Investigators say the officer tried to pull over the driver, Phillip Lane, 23, on State Route 741.
They say Lane took off at a high rate of speed, traveling as fast as 100 mph.
The officer says he backed off. The car later went left of center, crashing head on into an oncoming car on Route 741 near Cobblegate Drive in Moraine.
Lane and a passenger, Erik Sanford, 24, were killed.
The other driver and a juvenile survived the crash.
The investigation continues.
