Hundreds gathered at Wright-Patterson Air Force base Thursday for a homecoming celebration.
Nearly 200 airmen and their families were welcomed home from recent deployments by fellow servicemen and women.
"They say in the military home is where you toss your hat, but I'll tell you right now, the Miami Valley really makes you feel at home," said Vice Commander Daniel Sensel, 88th Air Base Wing.
"It really hits home and it reminds me every night that I need to go home and say thank you to my husband and kids because when we serve, they serve," said MSgt. Michelle Serrano.
More than 6,000 people have been welcomed home since the Heroes Welcoming Heroes event was first held in 2005.
