BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) - Eastbound US 35 reopened hours after a fiery crash claimed a person's life near Interstate 675 Tuesday evening in Beavercreek, Ohio.
Dispatchers were flooded with calls around 6:30 p.m. to report that a truck and car collided in the east bound lanes.
Firefighers say they arrived to find the crash scene on fire. It is unclear right now, but investigators are working to determine whether the driver of the car was traveling the wrong way in the east bound lanes when it hit the semi head-on.
The driver of the car was dead at the scene. The truck driver was shaken up, but was not hurt.
Southbound traffic on Interstate 75 is moving slow because of an accident near Main Street.
When police and firefighters arrived, Moore said the victim, a grandfather living at the residence, was trying to go back inside the burning home.
