FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) - The City of Fairborn, Ohio will be honored by the U.S. Air Force today when it names one of its C-17 Globemaster IIIs after the city.
The 445th Airlift Wing's C-17 Tail number 0044 will be named "Spirit of the City of Fairborn" at a ceremony to be held at the base.
This aircraft was the first C-17 to arrive at the 445th Airlift Wing.
It arrived Jan. 21, 2011, and is one of nine C-17s assigned to the unit.
