UNION CITY, Ohio (WDTN) - A Darke County man was arrested after deputies said he threatened two people with a gun and then barricaded himself inside his home for more than three hours.
Forty-five-year old Michael Broeker is charged with aggravated menacing, and using weapons while intoxicated.
Deputies were called to the 13000 block of Ohio Indiana Stateline Road just after 5 p.m. Saturday.
Two witnesses said they were mowing grass in the area when they were confronted by Broeker. They said Broeker pulled out a handgun and advised them they were done mowing and needed to leave.
Officers said Broeker then fired several rounds in the area. They said he also fired a rifle.
The two witnesses reported they believed Broeker was intoxicated.
Following the incident, deputies went to Broeker's home. They tried to make contact with him for three hours over a PA system and tried to call his cell phone.
The Darke County Special Response Team was called to the scene.
Deputies finally were able to make contact with Broeker on his cell phone. He came out of the home without incident and was taken into custody.
Broeker was booked into the Darke County Jail.
