SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - A Clark County woman is now charged with faking an illness to collect fundraising money.
Springfield police confirm that Michelle Mundy is charged with one count of felony theft.
Investigators say Mundy told friends and colleagues that she suffered from stage four lymphoma.
Her former employer, the Ohio Masonic Home, held a fundraiser for her in which they say she received all the money.
Her husband is a South Vienna police officer. He is not facing any criminal charges, but was put on leave from the department during the investigation.
Mundy is scheduled for arraignment in Clark County Municipal Court Friday morning.
