SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - The suspect in Thursday’s Amber Alert was prepared for an extended camping trip, authorities said.
Police found a gun, knives and condoms packed in Mark A. Edwards’ Ford Explorer when he was arrested just before 10 a.m.
Edwards had at least two hand guns, a machete attached to a long stick, several large knives, smaller camping-type knives and even walkie-talkies.
A cooler in the back of the SUV was loaded with food, signaling to deputies that Edwards and the abducted girl planned to hide out and lay low for several days.
Police say the 14-year-old girl willingly went with Edwards around 8:20 a.m. Thursday.
The girl was located with Edwards and is now being questioned.
