SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - As part of the Vietnam Veterans Day of Remembrance, dozens gathered in Springfield Saturday to salute Vietnam Veterans for their service.
A parade began at Mercy Medical Center and proceeded to the entrance of Veterans Memorial Park where a ceremony was held at the amphitheater. Those in attendance took part in a ceremonial tossing of a wreath into Buck Creek to honor those who sacrificed their lives in the Vietnam War.
Several Springfield and Ohio dignitaries as well as guest speakers came to the event to honor veterans who served in Vietnam.
Saturday's event was the first of its kind held in Springfield.
