SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - A Springfield man is the proud recipient of the Purple Heart.
Clarence Dean, 89, was presented his metal Friday at the Eaglewood Village Crossroads Hospice.
Dean was shot while serving the country during World War II.
The special ceremony included Dean receiving a commemorative pin, hat and certificate along with his medal.
The Purple Heart is the military decoration for service people wounded or killed while serving the United States.
It is the oldest military award still presented to US military.
