SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - A Clark County woman pleaded not guilty Friday after authorities say she lied about having cancer and accepted donations for her alleged treatment.
"You have no comment at all about the charges ma'am? You stole almost $6,000, you admitted to it and you have no comment at all," asked the judge.
Michelle Mundy is charged with one count of felony theft.
Springfield Police say Mundy told people she had stage four lymphoma.
Her former employer, The Ohio Masonic Home, says she received a large amount of money from its fundraising efforts.
Mundy's husband is a South Vienna police officer. He was placed on administrative leave following the accusations. Corporal Matt Mundy is not facing any criminal charges, but there is an ongoing investigation.
