ENON, Ohio (WDTN) - The former clerk and treasurer of Enon is accused of stealing from the village.
The Clark County Sheriff's Office arrested Debra Maurer Thursday. She is accused of stealing about $39,500 from her former employer.
She is charged with a count of theft in office and a count of tampering with evidence.
Investigators say Maurer would directly deposit village funds into her personal bank account and then alter the village's records and bank statements to conceal the theft.
The funds disappeared between 2008 and 2012.
Maurer will be arraigned Friday morning in Municipal Court.
