SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) - The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after two vehicles collided on I-70.
The accident happened early Sunday morning on I-70 westbound near U.S. Route 68.
According to troopers, 25-year-old Travis Owens of Dayton was driving east on I-70 in a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt when he lost control and crossed over the median into the westbound lanes of traffic. Owens hit a 2008 Chevrolet van driven by 26-year-old Dalbir Mavi of Liberty Township.
Both Owens and Mavi were taken to Springfield Regional Hospital by Springfield Township EMS and treated for minor injuries.
The westbound lanes of Interstate 70 were shut down for approximately one hour during the investigation.
Troopers said alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in the crash.
This year, they will help 13 families in need buy toys, clothing and other items.
