SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - Two suspects were in a Clark County courtroom Tuesday morning in connection to a murder investigation.
Randall Smith, 43, was arraigned on a charge of murder for the killing of Curtis Miller.
The second suspect was Miller's girlfriend. Jody Apone, 36, is charged with gross abuse corpse and tampering with evidence.
Apone and Smith are brother and sister.
Greene County Sheriff's deputies found Miller's body June 10 near a quarry in Cedarville Township.
Court records show Miller died sometime between May 26th and June 10th, in a garage behind an acquaintances house at 119 North Jackson Street.
Detectives said Smith repeatedly hit Miller in the head and chest causing his death.
They also said Apone helped roll Miller's body into a tarp and dump it in to the quarry on Gravel Pit Road in Cedarville.
"That's what we are alleging," said Springfield Police Chief Stephen Moody. "There is a lot that we want to keep close to the vest and present to a jury in a Common Pleas Court here in Clark County".
