Two people arrested for beating man at Dayton house

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- Two people are facing felony felonious assault charges for allegedly beating a man at a house Dayton.

Police responded to a report of people with knives attacking a man at a house in the 2800 block of Lakeview Avenue around 2 a.m. on Thursday.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, Terry Molden with significant injuries to his face.

Witnesses at the scene identified the suspects as Molden's girlfriend, Pamela Burns, and her ex-boyfriend, Earl Crowder.

According to the witnesses, Crowder began hitting Molden as he walked down the stairs. Crowder knocked Molden down, and witnesses say Molden may have been knocked out, because he was not defending himself.

"I believe from what the witnesses are saying that the current boyfriend and the ex-boyfriend didn't get along and that's what started the fight," said Dayton Police Sgt. Creigee S. Coleman.

At this point, witnesses told police Burns began assaulting Molden as well. Burns reportedly swung a butcher's knife, but it's unclear if Molden was stabbed.

Crowder and Burns reportedly fled the scene by forcing a mentally handicapped woman to drive them to an undisclosed location.

During the investigation, police found the butcher's knife in a nearby bathroom. The knife was reportedly wet, but there was no blood on it.

Medics arrived and told police Molden had a broken nose, a concussion and other possible injuries. Only 2 News was there when Molden was taken to the hospital.

After interviewing witnesses, police learned Crowder and Burns were at a house on Catalina Drive in Trotwood.

Several officers went to the house and made contact with Burns. Crowder tried to escape through the back of the house, but was caught by officers.

Burns and Crowder were booked into the Montgomery County Jail on felonious assault charges. Crowder is also being held on a traffic warrant.
