Witnesses: Crash caused by RV-trailer over-correcting on I-75 NB

WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (WDTN) - An injury crash has shut down the two right lanes on Interstate 75 northbound.

The multi-vehicle crash is located near state Route 725/Miamisburg Centerville Road. It happened around noon Tuesday.

"A car with a trailer was trying to over-correct and the trailer was trying to weave a little bit behind him and he was trying to correct it. So he went across a couple lanes of traffic -- all three lanes of traffic -- we all saw it so we all slowed down," said nurse and witness Lisa Keys.  "By the time he got in the center lane the trailer twisted and it flipped him and the car -- the car flipped."

Keys said she and fellow nurse Paula Reams jumped out of their cars almost immediately and began assessing the people in the car, calling it "instinctual."

"There was smoke, there were a couple of propane tanks that we were concerned about so we tried to get them out of the car," Keys said. "Like the father said, 'God puts angels in front of you at a certain time frame' and we just happened to be there."

A total of eight people were transported to area hospitals following the crash. Their injuries appear to be non-life-threatening, according to the Miami Township Fire Department. The driver of the trailer will be cited for failure to control.
