DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Family and friends of Taylor Brandenburg attended visitation services Sunday after the 20-year-old was shot and killed outside of a home on Huffman Avenue in Dayton last Sunday, March 12. It happened while she was babysitting family friends.
38-year-old Chuckie Lee and 26-year-old Kara Parisi-King are currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail on murder charges connected to the March 12th shooting. Both are expected to appear in court this week.
"She was just amazing," Close friend Katie Weidenborner said. "So perfect and beautiful."
Weindenborner and Taylor Brandenburg have been friends for more than a decade.
"It's a horrible day for all of us to see Taylor like this," Weidenborner said. "We all just wish she was here.
Weidenborner was one of dozens who came out for visitation services Sunday to remember the 20-year-old. Police say she was not the target after a fight spilled over from a nearby bar.
"It's just been horrible for me," Weidenborner said. "And the whole family and all of her friends."
Only 2 NEWS cameras were rolling when 38-year-old Chuckie Lee was booked into jail on murder charges Monday. 26-year-old Kara Parisi-King was caught after hiding. Now, Weidenborner is holding onto memories of her best friend.
"On behalf of our friends and family we would like to thank the Dayton Police Department and their detectives for all of their effort in bringing the alleged killer into custody. We are very grateful for the outpouring of support from our community and beyond," the family said in a statement Sunday. "At this time our family is in grieving and please continue to keep us in prayer."
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, North Chapel on Needmore Road.
