DPS launches new mobile app allowing parents to track buses

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton Public Schools is launching a new app to help parents keep a closer eye on their kids and the district's transportation system.

The mobile app was launched this month as a way for parents to connect to their kids bus route--so they know where they're at at all times.

We're first told at the start of the school year, the district had multiple busing issues. With the new app, parents won't have to call a call center if they have questions.

Instead, most will be able to be answered through the app--which also has up-to date calenders with lunch schedules and push alerts. Superintendent Rhonda Corr says the app will help parents get a better understanding for how the district's bussing system works.

"Sometimes things happen," Superintendent Rhonda Corr said. "There's weather. Buses are late. Buses change so parents can download the app and know when the bus is about to enter their circle when they know it's close to home."

The app is available for both apple and android devices. The bus tracking feature won't be available to users until early October.
