CLARK COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) - Clark County deputies have one man in custody after a shooting that left one man dead and another seriously injured.
Deputies said they found 19-year-old Anthony Hottenstein approximately one mile from the scene hiding in a barn behind a house on Crist Road.
The Montgomery County coroner's office identified the deceased victim Sunday as Jamez Hall, 19, of Springfield.
"We are in the process of questioning Hottenstein, interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence," said Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelly.
As of Saturday night, Hottenstein has not been charged in the shooting. According to Sheriff Kelly, the suspect is being held in custody on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court.
The shooting happened at approximately 1:30 Saturday afternoon on Old Mill Road in Mad River Township.
According to Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelly, three men were driving south on Old Mill Road in an SUV when the suspect opened fire. Sheriff Kelly said the suspect shot both men multiple times, killing one of them and severely injuring the other. He then got out of the SUV and ran away.
Witnesses said they spotted the suspect running south on Old Mill Road, leading deputies to search homes, barns and fields near the scene of the shooting.
Dayton police detectives are investigating a homicide Sunday night at the newly opened truck stop on Edwin C. Moses Blvd.
