Over $26,000 raised for Harvey relief during Day of Caring event

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -  2 NEWS and the Dayton Area Chapter of the American Red Cross raised more than $26,000 for Harvey relief efforts during the Harvey Day of Caring event Wednesday.

Relief efforts are expected to take months for the millions of people in and around the Houston area.

Phones opened at 7:00 am and closed at 6:30 pm. Wednesday.

Congressman Mike Turner called 2 NEWS about raising money for Hurricane Harvey.

During the Red Cross Phone Bank at 2 NEWS on August 30, the phone donations totaled to nearly $20,000, thanks to our viewers.

Our parent company, Texas based Nexstar Media Group, has raised over $2.5 million for Hurricane Harvey relief.
