NORTH BAY VILLAGE, Fla. (CNN) - A night out to watch the San Antonio Spurs-Miami Heat game ended with a search-and-rescue effort in Florida.
That's after the deck of a popular sports bar collapsed -- dumping patrons into Biscayne Bay Thursday night.
Some 24 people are injured, and three are in critical condition.
What's left of the deck at Shucker's Bar and Grill is unrecognizable, compared to the usual scene.
Authorities say they believe about 100 people were on it when it gave way.
Tom Tuckwell was in the bar when it happened.
"It was this peculiar roar of noise, and by the time I turned around -- in a split second --where there was once people, I mean 50, 100 people maybe, at least. There was nothing -- and darkness and screaming."
A waitress at the restaurant says the deck folded just as people stood to cheer after a Heat basket.
Tuckwell describes the rescue effort.
"People were trying to pull people out 6- to 10 feet below them," he said.
Helicopters were on the scene to illuminate the water as rescue divers searched for the injured. Ambulances were waiting to take them to nearby hospitals.
Authorities say they've accounted for everyone who went into the waters when the deck crumbled.
An investigation is now under way to determine a cause.
