WASHINGTON, D.C. (WDTN) - A Centerville High School graduate has been named the acting secretary of the Air Force.
Eric Fanning was promoted to the position less than two months after being named as undersecretary of the Air Force.
He will replace Michael Donley when he leaves his post Friday. Donley held the position since 2008.
Congressman Mike Turner offered his congratulations as Fanning comes from the 10th district in which Turner represents.
"I'd like to congratulate Eric Fanning on becoming acting secretary of the Air Force. In that capacity he will lead our Airmen and civilian Air Force employees who are dedicated to the defense of this nation," said Congressman Turner.
Turners says the Miami Valley can be proud to have two local high school graduates in the leadership of the Air Force.
General Janet Wolfenbarger is a graduate of Beavercreek High School. She is now commander of the Air Force Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
"Our community is truly dedicated to serving this nation. I look forward to working with him in support of the Air Force and their mission at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base," said Turner.
