WPAFB, Ohio (WDTN) - An Air Force colonel at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base faces trial on June 6 on a sex charge.
Colonel Mayan Shah is charged with sexual imposition, meaning he's accused of sexual contact that's offensive to another person. This comes at a time when the military is under a lot of pressure to get tough on sexual misconduct.
Colonel Shah is a research analyst in the office of Strategic Planning, Programs and Analyses at Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command at Wright-Patt Air Force Base, and the base confirmed he's working while he awaits trial.
Through court records 2 NEWS Investigates was able to conclude the incident in question occurred August 25, 2012 at Carillon Park, that was the last day of Alefest.
2 NEWS Investigates looked for people listed on court documents to find out more about the allegation against Shah.
For now all that can be said is he's accused of inappropriate sexual contact with another. The court told us had the alleged victim been a child the charge would have been more serious than sexual imposition, a misdemeanor.
The public affairs office at Wright-Patt issued a statement which included the following. "The Air Force has zero tolerance for sexual assault, to include sexual imposition, and we are unequivocal in our commitment to prevent such incidents."
