WPAFB, Ohio (WDTN) - A Colonel with the Air Force Material Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is facing sex charges.
Spokesperson Sue Murphy told 2 NEWS that the incident is reported to have occurred off the base.
Colonel Mayan Shah is charged in Montgomery County Court with sexual imposition charges, but Murphy did not have specific allegations that led to the colonel's arrest.
According to court documents, the alleged incident happened on Aug. 25, 2012 at Carillon Park in Dayton. 2 NEWS archives show the 2012 AleFest was being held at the park.
"The Air Force has zero tolerance for sexual assault. We are committed to prevent such incidents. Sexual Assault is a crime that violates Air Force core values, and it has no place in the Air Force," said Murphy.
Murphy says any possible action by the Air Force would only happen after the trial is over in Dayton.
