Coats For Kids kicks off 29th year
Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Carl Nichols will lead WDTN and Dayton’s CW Coats for Kids campaign by kicking off its 29th year on Friday, September 28th. Since the inception of this campaign, Coats for Kids has collected and distributed more than 475,000 coats and other winter accessories to needy children throughout the Miami Valley.
“We’ve collected thousands of coats over the years but it seems the need is even greater,” said Carl Nichols, Storm Team 2 Meteorologist. “No person should go a day without a coat to keep them warm for the cold winter ahead.”
The campaign, scheduled to run from September 28th through October 26th, will once again ask residents of the Dayton region to take any washable coat that they or their children may have outgrown to any location of our corporate sponsors (locations attached) and place them in a Coats for Kids collection container. The Cintas Corporation will then launder the coats at no charge and give them to Goodwill, who in turn, will distribute the coats to individuals and families in need of assistance.
Corporate partners for the campaign are Huntington Bank, Handyman Ace Hardware, Cintas Corporation, Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley, RTA, and Rush Transportation and Logistics.
Distribution of the coats will take place Thursday, November 8th from 8:00am to 6:00pm at the RTA Northwest Transit Center, located at 2075 Shiloh Springs Road in Trotwood, Ohio.
