FT. HOOD (KXAN) - The day after President Obama announces 30,000 more troops will be going to Afghanistan, hundreds of soldiers return to Ft. Hood from Iraq.

Families and friends will welcome home 250 soldiers Wednesday morning at Ft. Hood during a welcome home ceremony on post. Later in the evening, 100 more soldiers will enjoy the same homecoming. The 350 troops have spent the last year in Iraq, some of them on their second, third and fourth tours of duty.

The return comes on the heels of President Obama's announcement that 30,000 more troops will go to Afghanistan. As of now, there is no word on if any of these soldiers will be redeployed.
