KILLEEN, Texas (KXAN) - Officials closed Clarke gate Wednesday morning for a half-hour after gate guards discovered a live munition round during a random vehicle search.
The guards immediately alerted Fort Hood Emergency Services following the discovery of the ammunition for a grenade launcher at 9:15 a.m. Meanwhile, officials redirected traffic to other gates.
"The process worked just like it was supposed to work," said Tyler Broadway, with III Corps and Fort Hood Public Affairs Office.
Broadway said the access point reopened at 9:45 a.m. While this discovery is uncommon, Broadway said the post is not on high alarm.
In a press release, officials said: "The immediate and efficient response of Fort Hood security and emergency service personnel reinforces that on-post security measures are working as they should."
Broadway said the incident is still under investigation.
The following people have recently been booked into Jail. They may not have been convicted of the crimes they are charged with and are innocent until proven guilty.
