PROVIDENCE, R.I. - A government commission in Rhode Island is examining how well the state educates children with autism.
The commission is looking at how many students have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, the methods used to help them in the classroom and whether teachers have the appropriate training to educate autistic students.
The Joint Commission to Study the Education of Children with Autism is scheduled to meet Tuesday morning at the Statehouse.
The panel will be discussing proposed changes to legislation on medical insurance for autism treatment and the licensing of behavior analysts.
