COMMERCE, Calif. (CNN/KTLA) - At first it appeared that a motorcycle rider had the jump on the police, that is until the biker met his match - a California Highway Patrol officer, also on a motorcycle.

According to the highway patrol, the chase started when the rider failed to yield.

At times, the biker was going more than 100 miles an hour, blowing through stop signs and traffic lights.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said it helped tracked the motorcycle by helicopter until the cyclist was stopped.
